Omen

Brutal

Brutal (Brute for short) is a male reek. This rhinoceros looking quadruped 2.24 meter tall creature has two cheek horns and one larger central horn and has a yellow-tinged gray hide normally. When provoked, Brute's skin on head and shoulders will turn red, and he will become aggressive and territorial. Much like those kept in fighting circles, Brute has a black nose ring that typically would be used to control them.

Brute tends to be slow-moving and lumbering, but his powerful legs allow him charge attacks. Normally when with Savage, he will simply be lumbering along beside and seem dull-witted and mostly uninterested. In reality, Brute is a soft-spoken with a growly voice who is introspective and observant.

Items

-- Red-bladed saberstaff
-- Nightsister magic imbued battleaxe
-- Blaster resistant armour
-- Trench coat - A gift from Usagi for Christmas and sized for him.

Pets
-- Ruin: Savage's pet rathtar has made its way into Trench. Vicious and clingy, Ruin rolls around and will consume anything that will fit its mouth save those that have a 'familiar' scent or taste. Ruin will only grow to the size of a miniature horse but has a tentacle reach of 15 feet. Savage will occasionally 'wear' Ruin as a backpack.

-- Rampage: Standing at 20 hands tall (80" at the withers), Rampage is Savage's warhorse who will usually be dressed up in yellow warpaint to match his rider when they fight together. Rampage is not afraid to kick or bite adults that seem aggressive but is mostly passive for anyone under the age of fifteen or with the appearance of a teenager or younger.

Miscellaneous

-- Backpack full of Lego pieces
-- 1 Sith holocron
-- Memory's Touch - 1st Blessed Day gift. Details here

CRAU History and Impact: N/A
Personality:
Savage Opress was a force within the galaxy that gained notoriety and a remembered legacy even after his death. He was a towering menace that was described as a brute, a reckless impulsive animal, and a monster. He was feared by many members of the Jedi Order, a perceived threat to the Sith Order, and dangerous to anyone else that happened to cross his path. Because of his lack of speech to most, he was considered by many to be stupid and merely muscle for those he served under.

However, Savage was a product of the people and situations that made him. He was born into a matriarchal society to Mother Talzin, where men were expected to be warriors at the peak of their physical prowess at all times after puberty. They lived in remote villages and learned to survive the harshness of their planet through skill, cunning and working together with the other Dathomirian Zabrak males. He, like the rest of his kind, were expected to be ready to submit themselves to a Nightsister at any time in their lives through a Selection trial that few would survive. They would be servants and mates to their Nightsister, and even their right to die would be at the hands of that Nightsister.

The combination of a planet naturally part of the Dark side of the Force as well as the harshness of survival and their matriarchal society bred into Savage a deep basis of anger and hatred. The Mother Talzin comments on him being a perfect mate specimen and that he had a deep well of power stemming from hatred. Given that hate, anger and other strong emotions were used to fuel one’s use of the Dark side of the Force, he had a good basis for stepping into the role that was expected of him.

Even with all the hate that made up Savage while on Dathomir, he also showed a great love and concern for his brother, Feral. He spent much of the trial half-heartedly fighting Ventress until Feral was in danger, in which case his skill and ferocity increased until he could stand toe-to-toe with Ventress for points in their combative trials. Part of his deep love for his brother was willingly sacrificing and offering himself as Ventress’ servant to spare his brother’s life, which became moot when eventually Ventress forced Savage to kill Feral in a show of loyalty.

Sacrifice and forced submission became large parts of his choices throughout the series. He willingly let himself be put in servitude in an attempt to spare his brother from death. He willingly took a knee in service to Count Dooku and ended up brutalized during his training to be a Sith. Once he made it back to Dathomir, he was back in servitude to Mother Talzin whose plan to recover Darth Maul which she had had in motion for many years. After finding and dragging Maul back for healing, Savage gave up any real ambition of his own to serve his brother’s quest for revenge and power in the galaxy. Eventually even Maul, who had grown up under brutal conditions of his own, forced Savage into the role of apprentice despite Savage wanting them to share their strengths and remain on equal footing within their relationship.

So despite his monstrous reputation, he remained a victim to the Clone Wars. He lived under the strings of plots of other who had more power and a reason to use him to their own ends. After all, growing up on a planet where one’s only expectation was to be a fine warrior to be used as breeding stock didn’t offer him many opportunities to have wide aspirations of his own. He fell into the plots of others because of his sheer physical size, warrior prowess and lack of personal goals all of his own.

But serve he did. Savage put everything he had into each plot that he was thrown into. He showed a bull-headed determination to succeed in any mission he was tasked with, and initial successes were many and caught the attention of many in positions of power. The increased presence of those sent to stop him only showed the sheer force of his ability to fight through adversity by will, cunning and an completely unwillingness to completely fail. His loyalty to the mission and the master he currently served was only broken by a betrayal of that master, in which he would show no sign of forgiveness.

Savage was also impulsive. Mother Talzin said it best about his nature when she said “A male is easy to find but hard to control”. While he never wanted to die, he could charge head-long into combat situations such as when he decided to take on Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress in combat at the same time, despite not being trained nearly enough to achieve victory. His anger was often a motivator to how he engaged many situations, and with his brute strength, his impulsive nature wasn’t always punished. He also showed that nature outside of combat when telling Maul they should just break out of Mandalorian prison to find a necessary pawn in Maul’s political game. Once he spoiling for a fight or an end point, he committed to it without always thinking of the consequences.

At the same time, he can be called to stand down. There were many occasions in which he would calm and settle when his master at the time ordered him to stand down. Patience was a word that he heard often by both Count Dooku and Darth Maul. While he wasn’t mindless by any means, he was obedient. Such a trait allowed him to thrive and learn under his Sith masters, since it forced him to swallow his anger and hatred to focus it until the time was right to act.

An interesting aspect of Savage’s personality was that, aside from the Selection Trials where Feral was involved, he does not engage in the events of the galaxy on a personal level. He was rather level headed when it came to the realities and brutality of war, and while he was engaged in it, nothing about the war was for personal reasons or even personal gain. Much of early conquests were at the behest of the person in charge of his loyalty, but it was simply for the job to be done. As a warrior, he would take pride in his skills, but he suffered no grudges he would bother to pursue openly. Once he left Dooku’s service, he made no moves to take revenge on his former master. He only engaged Ventress when she came for the bounty on his head. He assisted in many ways in Maul’s quest for revenge against Obi-Wan Kenobi, but he never showed inclination that he was actively invested in such a matter as his own personal vendetta, not even after Obi-Wan cut off his arm.

His family relations were the only aspect that was personal to him. After losing Feral by his own hand, Savage showed a great need to find Maul when Mother Talzin gave him that mission. He was driven to succeed at all costs and frustrations, following only a talisman that would light up when he happened to be going in the right direction. His relationship with his elder brother became a fundamental part of his continued existence beyond the life of Dathomir he could have returned to had he not been so wanted within the galaxy.

Maul was one of the few people he wasn’t a simple servant to, despite how he would take the strong and silent trope when in dealing with groups of people. He allowed Maul to do the talking, putting up a necessary front of one-word answers or growls. However, in private, Savage showed far more personality and showed that he was entirely dedicated to Maul while still asking questions, clarification and remarks. An excellent example is after Savage as lost his arm and can barely defend himself as they retreat from Ohnaka’s pirates and he doesn’t even hesitate to stop defending himself so he could pick up Maul when his brother loses a leg. He relies entirely on Maul to defend them both from blaster fire while Maul relies almost entirely on Savage to keep them retreating. Their relationship is one of respect, trust, and a mutual genuine care for each other. Savage accepts Maul as his brother is, and Maul extends affection through training Savage and never goes out of his way to abuse, torture or emotionally torment as all his previous masters have done.

Despite all of his efforts, Savage ended his life as he began it within the series: failing to protect his brothers. His failure with Feral was made worse with the notion that his failing to survive an encounter with Darth Sidious would leave Maul vulnerable. Yet, he also died knowing his brother cared deeply for him as Maul ignored Sidious to come to where he lay dying to be with him regardless of the risk of turning a back on their opponent. Those failures would numb any successes that he had in his lifetime because his brothers were always the most important part of his life.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
- Combat Skills - Shown to be skilled in hand-to-hand brawl style combat of the Nightbrother clan as well as skilled with basic melee weapons such as axes, spears, glaives, and knives. His skill was good enough to fight a fully trained Nightsister who was known for her formidable fighting skills as an assassin. He has a good foundation of martial weapon skills from growing up in a warrior clan, and those skills were also translated over to wielding a duel sided light saber, which is one of the most difficult light sabers to wield. Under the tutelage of his brother, Maul, he developed increase skill and confidence with the lightsaber (more below).

- High pain tolerance - Zabraks as a species are known for their high pain tolerance and ability to recover quickly from injuries or overcome pain to continue combat. Savage himself loses his arm in a light saber duel but recovers enough in a few minutes to continue fighting even while in retreat. Pain simply makes him more angry over time.

-Nightsister magical enhancements – After being chosen by Asajj Ventress to be her servant in revenge against Count Dooku, Savage was taken to Mother Talzin and the Nightsisters for augmentation with the magicks of Dathomir. This ritual gave Savage significant increases to his height (from 6’2” to 7’1”), strength, durability and stamina as well as longer horns which he used offensively on several occasions. A part of the spell was also to force servitude to Mother Talzin and Ventress, but aspects of the spell broke down during Savage’s repeated exposure to Force lightning and Ventress’ insults towards him (or possibly by design by Mother Talzin, which is unclear).

- Force Use - Before enhancement with Mother Talzin's magic, Savage showed himself to be force sensitive in that he saved himself and his brother from her hidden attacks. After the enhancements, his force sensitivity expanded to be vast and potentially limitless if given enough time, training and emotion to draw upon. He showed himself to be quite the user of the force when still rudimentarily trained by Count Dooku, and under his brother, he began to develop a strong aptitude for using the Force. His power was far more brutish than finesse, and he didn't bother with mind tricks or other subtleties that were possible.

He has a strong connection with telekinesis, able to force choke multiple opponents and even force choke without maintaining eye contact. He uses force wave to blast droids and Jedi who surround him; in the comics, when angered, his use of this ability rivaled that of his brother. He uses telekinesis to throw his lightsaber with lethal precision and recall it with ease.

- Lightsaber skills – Savage was trained late in life to use a lightsaber, and he was given access to a double-bladed one, which is one of the most difficult sabers to wield given its requirement of the user to be aware of both ends of it. He has shown considerable improvement over the course of his tenure using the weapon, and he tends towards using and aggressive style that combines spear/glaive techniques along with Juyo form, which prioritizes punishing aggressive attacks to overwhelm opponents. Because Savage is over seven-feet tall, he has a much easier time with the weapon through wielding it and even rotating it for defensive purposes.

His aggressive style of dualist also was his weakness because Savage invested very little into defense when he was attacking. Though he could parry other lightsabers back for the purpose of continuing his attacks, he left openings that could be exploited. Because his skill was often fueled by anger, he would experience tunnel vision and focus heavily on his opponent, leaving him open for attacks from behind. He tended to survive such encounters because of his armour, his explosive use of the Force to blast enemies away from and his brother Maul covering him.

- Pilot – As with most species with the ability of interplanetary travel, Savage is familiar with the necessary skills involved in piloting and navigating the regions between planets of the galaxy manually and using hyperdrives. He has used multiple different transport types over the course of the series. Not only could he pilot, but he showed a strong ability to simply hijack random space-faring vessels and use them without practice.

Warping:
-Talisman Tied – Savage will remain in his pre-imbued state for much of his stay which will reduce him to all his previous abilities. He will be force sensitive but otherwise not be able to use the force without retraining himself to do so. He would also require retraining to use his lightsaber while in this form. However, he will be able to return to his magically-imbued form once a day or if his temper was tapped into, but he can only hold the form together because of his reliance on anger and hatred. He would have access to his Force abilities based on the level of anger. The moment his anger slipped, he would return to his smaller Zabrak form. Also, while in his magically imbued form, the talisman is absorbed into his body but it can been removed when he is smaller.

Inventory:
- Blaster-resistant armour / clothing
- Talisman imbued with Nightsister magicks
- Double-bladed lightsaber
- Miniature infant rathtar (will only grow to the size of a horse)
- 1 Sith holocron
- Star Wars Lego because asking for a space-faring ship is bigger than a car. Plus, there are memes of Savage looking at Lego.

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yes, that will be fine.
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?:
Personally, I enjoy getting into a character’s head and putting them in situations where they have to deal with their emotional short falls either alone or with another person. I enjoy the emotional and psychological aspects of horror where characters are pushed far beyond their comfort level.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: No, I am not easily triggered.

⇓in character⇓

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: If a character is family or has close CR with him, he might allow it and even enjoy it. If he doesn't know a character, it's more likely he will consider any hands, feet or bodies coming his way as a potential threat and Force choke automatically. He experiences a lot of people trying to kill him, so it's his go-to.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yes, I am down with this, especially given he comes from a warrior background and most people in the galaxy are trying to avoid or kill him on some level.

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Yes but be prepared for him to be confused. In his society, males are forced to fight in trials to win the regard of a female, and those Selection Trials are often deadly. The Nightsisters are also rather brutal to their mates and are known to kill them. Nice flirting and romance are not aspects of earning a mate he's used to.

SEXUAL CONTENT: Savage has had sex before, but it has only been with males of his village. He is bisexual with strong heterosexual leanings because they have always been expected of him. His relationship with sex has been learning skills to please other people first, and while he'd probably be gung-ho about it, he will need to go slowly and have some encouragement. He also has not had a sexual encounter since he was imbued with Nightsister magic, so he would be wary of hurting any future partners given his size and strength.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: He can crush people's skulls. That's the extent of anything remotely psychic, and it's a rather physical showing. Likely he can sense other Force-sensitive people if he bothered to learn or concentrate.

MAGIC/POWERS: He is a dark space wizard. He can wield the Force (a magical energy surrounding all living things), and while his uses tend to be very potent, he often lacks subtle or fine control. He is still growing into his use given his late start to training, and his bullish use means Force Choke, Force Blast and using the Force for enhancing his physical movements are most common.

Savage was enhanced by the Nightsisters using their magic, which gave him greater physical height, immense strength, stamina and endurance. This enhancement also opened his mind to the Force, and he had a near limitless ability to draw on it based on his emotions and he became stronger as he was trained.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: The Zabrak species has two functioning hearts in their chests, which allows them greater physical attributes. They do not tire easily, allowing them to outlast their opponents. They also have a considerable high pain tolerance as a species. They have slow growing horns from their heads, and they can be cut off or filed down, and at a certain length they can be used as a weapon.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: Forced subservience, torture as a means of punishment, fratricide, threat of his brother being seriously injured or dying.

⇓out of character⇓

BACKTAGGING: I am usually pretty good for backtagging, especially with life getting crazy now and again. Typically I go about 2-3 months into backtagging but am willing to discuss handwaving as well.

FOURTH WALLING: With discussion, especially since Star Wars comes in so many forms of media. It's hard to keep track of it all sometimes.

THREADHOPPING: Network threads are okay for this. Log threads can be accommodated with discussion.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR, BUT CAN STILL PLAY: Fingernail/toenail pulling.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR AND THAT I CAN'T PLAY: None that I can think of currently. Will update as I discover strong limitations.
