[Maul stretched out a little to get his blood flowing again before wrapping one arm around the burly arms of Savage that were still encircling him. This right here was the best Christmas present he could have asked for. He began to purr back just a little bit.]
I know someone here who can summon gold by will alone. If you offer him things that he values, he will create it. He gave me many coins in exchange for merely a story.
[He did not relent in his hold, instead using the fact that Maul uncurled to pull his brother harder against his chest. He sighed out a louder purr, even as he nuzzled the side of Maul's temple with his own.]
Who is this entity, brother? Think of the bounty that we could have with just stories. You're full of stories.
[While he might covet currency, he recognized it might not be as useful here in this place. He still was pleased to have received such a gift.]
[Maul's eyes wrinkled up and then closed in happiness at the close contact with his brother. Maul was happier than he'd been in a long while. Trench hadn't been any easier than Deerington had been but with his brother here it made a lot of it worthwhile. Finally, he understood what people meant when they talked to him about why Christmas was such a valued holiday for those that lived on Earth.]
His name is Paimon. He is a demon that possesses the body of a boy named Peter. His host is a bit useless but very obedient since he is terrified of me.
[Alright, so Maul still sounded a little proud of that fact even with Usagi trying to get him to treat Peter better. What could he say? Maul really did value obedience in the people around him.]
But the demon is very, very powerful. He accepts offerings of all kind in exchange for gold.
[Yeah no, he was not letting go of Maul for awhile yet, and he made certain that was clear as he used his chin to nuzzle his brother's neck, jawline and face. Trench had been a big change of pace for him, and for once, he believed that he could make changes for himself and it not just be stolen from him. Maul stuck by him, and for that he thought he could carve out a place for himself.]
I don't think I've met either, but I now intend to. Does this demon take over whenever he wants, or is there a manner to reach him?
[He could appreciate obedience as well, especially when it seemed to come with rewards in this case. His brother did seem to know how to meet with many of the right people of Trench.]
If he's so powerful, why hasn't he just taken over and done away with the 'gods' of this place?
[Maul felt warm and content. If it hadn't been for the conversation currently keeping him awake, he would have been on the verge of just falling right back to sleep, even with his brother showing such a large amount of affection towards him. Giving him the gold really had been a good idea and Maul was glad it had been received so well. Best Christmas ever!]
He tends to come to the forefront when I am around because his host is too terrified to be in my presence for long. If you were to just call out his name while around the host, there is a good chance he will respond. Names are very important to him.
[Maul had learned a lot about how to deal with the demon. Not as much as someone like Luna or Constantine would know but enough knowledge to make the Zabrak interacting with Paimon a very dangerous idea.]
Oh, he's not as powerful as a god. But I'm certain he could so something like, perhaps, just kill a person with a single thought if he truly wanted to.
[Granted, so could Maul, but he was sure Savage could understand the difference he was trying to get at. Paimon was ancient and had power Maul had never seen before which is what made him so fascinating to the Sith Lord.]
Perhaps I shall introduce you sometime. He would be glad to know any kin of mine I am certain.
[He'd likely think Savage was some type of demon too. Maul was hardly going to dissuade him of the notion given how brutal he and his brother could act.]
[He took a moment to drop an arm to pull the blanket higher on them both so it was warm and cozy even more. Then his arm returned to cuddling his brother in against him. Maul had not been much of a cuddler when they had first met, but Savage had been plenty determined to force the issue. He was not traveling with another Zabrak and not get to sleep next to each other. Now he took advantage of his previous efforts.]
Ah, so terrorizing this Peter is a good method to speak with the demon. How close is he to that demon in the old human meat suit? [He's talking about Michael. So far Michael had seemed laid back for what he had been told demons were about, even played hide 'n seek with him and Maul when they had been small.
He was already filing away that names were important and that stories would be welcomed as a way to open this demon up to potentially interacting with him further. He wasn't so certain what he would do with this Peter yet, so that would depend on meeting.]
Would he? It seems... worthwhile to have such an ally, does it not?
[Maul had been touch-starved when they'd first reunited but unable to truly show it or express what he wanted in a healthy manner. Fortunately, Savage had simply forced the issue, unwilling to let Maul have too much distance whether physical or emotional while they spent their time traveling the stars. There were long periods of time when there was nothing to do in a spaceship and so Maul had been forced to learn to be alright with what physical affection his brother was willing to give. For the first time in over thirty years, he'd slept soundly after his brother was back by his side. Now, he couldn't imagine being without him by his side when they were sleeping.
It took a moment for Maul to place which person Savage was talking about, loggy as he was with sleep. Sometimes it wasn't an advantage neither of them was in the habit of using names for people around them or even each other much of the time.]
Hmm? I am not sure. They have both been here long enough that I am sure they know of one another if nothing more.
[Actually, that was a very good question he'd need to ask Michael the next time he saw him. He would have asked Paimon but that would have been a very prolonged conversation given the demon's limited conversational skills.]
Very much so. He's growing more powerful and having such a being on our side would be beneficial.
[This was probably not the ideal time to be discussing people that they had associated with, given they were both sleepy, cuddly and were definitely not in a habit of using names too much. In normal, fully awake conversation, it was fine because they had grown used to reading one another so well, but half-asleep, it was just them having a go at trying to converse before inevitably they would fall asleep.
After all, he had grown used to Maul snuggling in, metal limbs warmed by one another's body heat. If anything he used his metal prosthetic to fasten his older brother to him far more easily, since he could pretend he didn't feel any shuffling to get out from under it. It worked out well.]
The meat suit indicates he's been alive for a long time. He must know things about other demons, and he's usually talkative enough to potentially give details to how to make a bargain with one.
[It seemed reasonable, right? Especially if this Paimon wasn't the talkative sort compared to Michael. Either way, he definitely was considering finding this 'Peter' fellow and seeing what a potential ally was all about. It was better than the people of Trench that peeked in the windows to check if Maul was home to worship.]
We could mutually benefit each other. [He yawned and snuggled his nose against Maul's skin, breathing evening out as he fought to stay awake.]
Yes, he-- [Maul didn't bother to stifle the yawn that escaped his mouth. He'd be asleep in a few minutes after they finished up this conversation.] --he must. I'll ask him what he knows the next time I see him.
[It would likely be soon. Maul would just need to make an excuse and go in for more clothing and then strike up a conversation with the ancient demon. He'd be bound to know more than what Maul himself had been ever to discover.]
Yes. Seek him out when you have time. He'd be glad to know of any kin of mine.
[It was time to go back to sleep. Maul's eyes closed and he adjusted himself so that he could be snug and secure sleeping with his brother curled up right there. The warmth from their combined body heat soon sent him off to sleep. The last thing he muttered was a sleepy:]
[With Maul seemingly taking on the responsibility of speaking with Michael, Savage let that point of conversation go. He expected he would hear about it anyway, and he was busy fighting off falling back asleep cuddling his brother. Normally, he'd get up and start some training and his morning routine, but this was a holiday right? It meant he could doze a bit longer.]
Hmmm, I will. I'll get a description of the host later and see if I can find him. [Sometimes humans just looked the same; he tended to know them by scars or tattoos.
He yawned and hugged Maul closer to him, his hand still clutching one of the coins that he had been given. He hummed at the acknowledgement of Christmas and let his brother return to sleep before following suit.]
